Urid (Gota) (also Urad) Gota are whole Urid beans without the black shell. They are creamy white and have a distinct, delicious earthy taste and lots of aroma.
They need to be soaked for a couple of hours before use. This ensures that it cooks faster.
Urid or Urad Dal Gota is widely used in South Indian cuisine and is used for example for making batters for vada, idlis and dosas.
